Benefit Concerts as Outreach

I've been thinking about outreach and the arts. It occurred to me that artists often put on concerts to benefit causes they wish to support. For example, a group of musicians recently re-recorded the song We Are the World to raise money for the victims of the recent Haiti earthquake.

One idea that has occurred to me is to find a local cause that is both worthy of benefit and important to the larger community. Two examples might be Honor Flights and Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry. Another local choir is already doing benefit concerts for WARM. I spoke with the coordinator of Honor Flights the other day. He is open to such an event.
